Tranny repaired, but stinky

I just got my car back. They had to go in and repair the tranny. Anyways this is my first day driving it, and it is a lil smelly. Is this normal after having transmission work done?

Gear oil isn't the most pleasant smelling liquid in the world. If they managed to spill a little while filling it (which I think would be right over the exhaust/turbo heat shield) there would be a bit of an odor for a while.

I'd just keep tabs on the tranny fluid level to make sure it isn't leaking.

Hopefully yours is smelling better by now. I changed my tranny fluid last week and had gear oil stench for about 2 days because I got a little on the turbo heat shield. It burned off and is back to normal now.
