Exclamation short throw shifter

hi folks, i believe this is the best place to post.
My girl has a '03 wrx and i have an '02, both sedans. She has i guess a stock option short throw shifter, what kind of shifter is this? the sti/wrx subaru one? if so i guess i'd like to get one for my ride. Also what other short throw shifters do you recommend?

Your GF's car has the factory STi shifter. It has a small change to the linkage to shorten throws. The drawback to it is that it's quite expensive- it runs about $250-300 new. The most popular alternatives are Kartboy and Cobb. Kartboy also makes shifter bushings for the linkage, which do wonders for shift feel. The main reason not to get one is that many people don't realize what a short-throw actually does. It DOESN'T let you shift any faster. You can only shift as fast as the synchros can spin up. What it does is give you a better feel for what the synchros and dogs are doing, and make the lever not have to move as far when you shift. That's it.

My '03 WRX Sedan came with two factory-equiped options, the turbo gauge and the short-throw shifter. The short-thow shifter is an STi item. I highly recommend it as it makes shifting seem effortless and much more positive. By positive, I mean that the driver has a much more certain feel as to where the shifter is going. It's a lot more difficult to do a bad throw with a shifter as nice as this. You will never want to go back to the standard shifter after using the STi short-throw.

I'm happy with my kartboy shift lever and bushing. Check out the reviews section https://www.i-club.com/reviews/showcat.php?cat=48.

I installed a kartboy shifter with the bushings into my 2001 rs. The difference is awesome, much shorter. And now i know what everyone was talking about when they mentioned the "positive" feel.
highly recomended, dont waste your money on the sti setup

if my 04 wrx already has an sti short shifter, can i even switch it out? Im not 100% sure that it does but if it does i dont really like the feel of it and id like to switch to maybe the kartboy or perrin.
