Question Short shifter help?

Whats the best combo for short shifters I heartd if you get the subaru sti short shifter offered by subaru and the kartboy kit and put themj together its the best. Is this true? I heard its expensive that way though. But whaat other short shifter do you recomend? I hear kartboys are good, anyone know a good website to buy them from other then kartboy that would be cheaper?
Thanks.

I don't have experience with the factory short shifter. I have the Kartboy unit. I'd suggest getting the Kartboy and all bushings, installing them, then seeing how that works out for you before splurging on the expensive STi kit. Kartboy may have a package deal if you buy the shifter + bushings at the same time but you'll have to check their site for the latest. You can search (keyword: 'kartboy') the Vendor Classifieds for i-Club vendors that are authorized as Kartboy distributors for some kind of deal.

THe installation of the factory short shifter is a lot more involved than the kartboy ones but you don't have to worry about trimming the plate because the kartboy rubs it.

My 2004 WRX was factory equipped with the short shifter and I have problems getting into reverse sometimes. To get it to go into reverse I can shift into 4th or 5th first then into reverse; or roll the car slightly forward to help ease it into reverse (otherwise it will grind or clunk into reverse). It's done this since day-1 and the delear says its a known problem and can't be corrected.

Not sure if the aftermarket ones have this same problem.
