i have the kartboy sti short shifter. it works great and i love it. you can definitely notice the difference in shifts. the install is not as easy as the wrx, but it can easily be done with 2 people. i did mine's by myself and it was a pain in the butt. i definitely recommend having someone help you out with this. the reverse lock out cable takes some time and patience to reinstall.

Is that the only short shifter that they have for the STI, do they have any other brands or is that the best one for the STI? What about the factory short shifter, is that good?

i'm not sure about the subaru sti short shifter, but i have the kartboy on my wrx as well. i got the kartboy sti version because i liked it so much on my wrx. so far the kartboy sti shifter is as good as the wrx one. no complaints here.

I haven't heard about that many because of the problems people encounter with the reverse lockout cable.

Check Subarureview.com, they might be ble to help. Good luck

I will get the STi factory shortshifter because, I've compared the 5MT kartboy shortshifter to the STi one, and its always better to have a full linkage designed around the shifter.

The factory 6MT SS felt great...

honestly i wouldnt waste my money on the optional one for 300-400 and it only gives you a 10% reduction in throw. = save your $$$

i have both sitting in the shop and the ONLY difference is the shifter on that setup. the linkage is the same. SOA buys the complete package from their supplier so they just plug and play.

take a look at the install page on the website. i have the shifter installs down to about an hour with bushings.
