Shifting gears

well i just bought my 04 WRX with a short shifter and i was wondering if this is normal. When i shift gears its really choppy. It feels like "clunck clunck" and then into gear. i just drove my freinds type-s and his gears are very easy to go into. very smooth. so im just asking is it normal or should i take it back and ask them to fix it. thx

I don't have the ss but I can tell you stock, the shifting is notchy. It's not butter smooth, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Its the compromise between sturdiness and comfort. Unfortunately, it seems with WRX transmission, we get little of both
