I just installed the 25 dollar Ebay short shifter and it's very nice. I used the factory shift ****, and had all the usuall problems that come with a cart boy. I put the shifter in the freezer over night so it would be easier to get it in the socket but that didn't help. Since I had no rubber hammer I used a cinderblock to get it into place and I had to bend and grind the plate that's under the trim. No all is good, the shifts are shorter and crisper.
