problem with my transmission - ideas?
hey everyone,
i was driving some friends around oakland, some doubters of the rex's capabilities, and i was educating them in various methods of fast driving. after about a 10 min drive, of which there were many high revving starts and a bit of pretty aggressive driving, i was at a stop light with the car in neutral, and then when i tried to put it in 1st it wouldn't go. then i tried any other gear, and it wouldn't go. with the clutch in, it physically would not engage any gear. my friends helped me push it to the side (with a cop blasting that annoying fog horn sound behind me), and i let it cool down for about 5 mins. once it cooled, it was fine and i could put it back in 1st and every other gear.
my car is an 03 with no mods and only 8900 miles. this has never happened before
does anyone know the cause of this? or has this happened to anyone before? thoughts would be really helpful, i'm a bit worried.
thanks,
seth

It was probably the car's clutch getting tired of you and your friends' a$$es weighing it down and heating it up too much. You should let it cool for a few minutes after every hard launch.
I had to let mine cool down a few times, but never noticed much more than very light grinding when I tried to put it in gear.
Watch out with the high rev starts and aggressive driving, I did a few of those (the guy who owned my car before me did more) and when my tranny broke it was called abuse and denied under the "abuse" clause in the warranty.
