problem with 1st gear?

hey there,
so i just bought a 03 wrx wagon a couple weeks ago. ive noticed that if im coming to a stop sign or something and im going over 5-10mph there is some resistance pushing the stick into first. but when im stopped there is no problem. is this common or is this bad?
thanks

It's normal. That resistance is from the fact that you are going from a synchro to a non synchro gear (correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is the logical explanation)
