I have read...

and heard the same thing. It seems like a "clip" of sorts that attaches to the "stock" shift rod.

I wonder how it will be, since it is a fairly new product. I wonder who has tried it, and will provide some feedback.

Only thing with the kartboy one is that you eithr have to cut the plate, or turn it around. Something that doesn't seem like the best of ideas.

well...

given that Perrin has a pretty good track record with their products, I believe that this one might work well. It's only about 90 bucks, so it might not be that bad to try. I suppose that someone could always return it, if not satisfied with the product, correct?

i have the perrin short shifter on my cay for 6 months now. no probs at all. super easy to install. as for vibrations haven't felt any difference after. i don't get that harsh vibrations as reported by other short shifters. as for the it slipping with hard shifts, b/c of the one screw, that hasn't been a problem. the adapter is snug to the shifter already without tightening of the screw so there is alot of friction between the two sufaces. for the one year this shifter has been in production i have never read any negative comments on it.

just installed one

I ordered one from The WRX Store for $70, shipped and installed it last weekend. The hardest part of the install was dealing with the plate. I tried doing the 180 degree rotation thing but the rubber nubs and screw holes didn't align anymore and I didn't feel like cutting off the nubs. I then tried to shim the plate w/ a few washers hoping that I would be able to raise the thing up enough to clear 1st and 3rd gear but this wasn't enough. So in the end I ended up filing away and now I'm a happy camper.

Overall the thing does the job and it feels great to me. The throws are noticeably shorter and stiffer, but with more of a precise feeling. The adjustable throw feature is pretty cool, although I haven't had a chance to play with it too much. I set mine at 55 mm (around the middle) and its working out great.

I went with the Perrin short shifter mainly because the Kartboy would have been too short for my liking. And due to the 180 degree shifter rotation my Kartboy Knuckleball is now upside down.
