Question OEM Tranny Fluid

Well after searching the forums and doing a lot of reading I have decided that I'm going to stick with OEM tranny fluid, but I went to the delaer today and they said that they don't sell the gear oil (should I have called it tranny fluid I wonder), so I was wondering what brand the OEM fluid is? From reading some post one guy mentioned that OEM is 'Castrol Multitrax 75w-90' can anyone confirm this?

Another questions of mine that I didn't really find an answer to is if it's ok to use synth oil in the rear differential? I know there are issues with synth oil in MT becasue of slippage issues but the rear tranny oil doesn't have any synchros, does it? Or should I stick with stock OEM fluid back there too?

For those who want to know I drive a 03 MBP sedan, 5MT.

Thanks for the help,

Jason

Where can you find Castrol Multitrax in the Bay Area (or online in the US)?

I looked at the castrol website for the USA and they don't have the multitrax here in the states, perhaps it's sold under a different name. On the castrol site in Australlia they have info on the multitrax, so looks like ya need to know some one down south to get the multitrax unless like I mentioned befroe it is sold under a diffrent name here.

Go back and ask them what they would fill it with if you asked for a transmission flush. If he still can't tell you... don't ever go back again.
