clutch on '04 wrx

Just a quick question about cluches on '04???

I've noticed a big difference on the clutches from driving my bro's stock '02 wrx to my '04 wrx. The clutch is definitely harder on the '02, feels like an aftermarket compared to mine....An i don't even drive that hard on my clutch...drive like a grandma compared to my bro....

Have any of you guys out there notice the difference?? or should i bug Subaru??? I was going to go test drive another one at the dealer just to make this clear but hit me up on your ideas!!

THanks!!

the tester and my car had the same feel. i think our clutches are pretty light. i really don't think they should be different though...

Early production '02 WRxs had a clutch that was a problem for folks...would wear/fail (shudder) prematurely, I believe. The later production '02's were fitted with an "improved" clutch and those are being used thru the '03-'04 models. (info from dealership tech)

The older '02 clutches (the ones that were prone to clutch judder) had stronger pressure plate springs. The newer ones (the ones used in TSB repairs for judder and in new production after it came out) were different designs with a softer spring.
