Installed KB bushings....not much difference

I installed my kartboy short shifter and bushings yesterday. I noticied a huge change in the short shifter but I didn't notice any change when I installed the bushings.
What exactly the bushings do??
I am thinking that I had to high of expectations for the bushings because I've read that the bushings make a big difference.

The bushings are not supposed to decrease shift throw length, just create a better "feel" when engaging gears. After changing to KB bushings, my shifts feel crisper and definitely less smooth than stock. My other experience with the KB shifter combo is that my shifts feel more precise (i.e. I definately know when I am engaged in gear). Cars respond differently when adding KB shifter and bushings. I met someone at a car meet that put in the KB combo and it also feels just like stock.

^^^ like he said, no change in the throw but eliminate the slop for nice precise shifts.

On my car I had the KB bushings installed first with the stock shifter for a few weeks. It made it feel more solid and firm when shifting into gears. Now I have the KB bushings and short throw and a Perrin **** and it feels great, shifter gets locked into place precisely and throws are shorter.
