Clutch Woes after only 3k miles
Clutch Woes after only 3k miles
I've got a '06 STi, and I've been having some troubles with it accellerating really poorly. It still goes like stink, but I've noticed a lot of lag in taking off.
Today I was in some lovely 10-20mph traffic on the freeway, staying at around 3k rpm in 2nd and sometimes going to third gear. I noticed that when I accellerated or let the car coast down, there was a scraping sound coming from the transmission. Pushing in the clutch revealed that the sound was coming from the clutch. I also noticed that there was a high frequency vibration felt in the shifter through most rpms, and when I was coasting down, the vibration would start and stop when the noise from the clutch did.
The car IS under warranty, and yes, it would be really easy to take it in and have them diagnose the problem. If it is a clutch issue though, and there is no way to adjust it (I'm not even sure, is it hydraulic or cable?) I'd like to be able to take an aftermarket clutch into the dealer and try to work a deal to have them install that instead of another stock one.
Also, will the 04-05 STi clutches work with the 06?

seriously. My dealership offers to install parts when I buy them. They will not warrantee said no SOA part but they will warrantee their work. And they'll let me know what parts of my warrantee I'm effecting.
