clutch stop?

i was wondering if there is a clutch stop available for the STI? my last 2 cars
(e36 m3's) had short shifters and clutch stops and i liked only having to let out about an inch or so until it started engaging. i will be buying an STI soon and wanted to get one if someone makes one, but if not its all good. thanks guys in advance.

You might have to make one yourself. The STi doesn't have a threaded hole in the floor like some BMWs. It's possible that you could just use a block of wood with velcro on one side and a thin rubber sheet on the side that contacts the back of the clutch pedal to deaden the sound. Just make sure that whatever you use is securely mounted - you don't want anything to jam up underneath the brake pedal in a panic situation!

Any type of clutch stop has to be properly adjusted so that the clutch is completely disengaged when depressed to the stop, otherwise you'll wear out the clutch and possibly the transmission synchros prematurely.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with a clutch stop. I like the reassurance that the clutch in my WRX is completely disengaged when I push the pedal all the way down.

Yes. Get a feel for how the tranny engages 1st gear with the engine running when you depress the clutch pedal to the floor. Shifting should feel exactly the same where the point of complete disengagement is, even if the pedal is not depressed all the way to the floor. Do the same for Reverse, which is non-synchronized, so it might be even easier to tell when the clutch engages. A margin must always be allowed as the clutch may grab differently when hot or cold.

Really, it's safer just to press the pedal to the floor, IMO. And don't ride the pedal while driving. My factory WRX clutch has 62k+ miles on it, one track day, maybe a couple of dozen drag strip passes, and no slippage.
