Installed Exedy clutch - cannot get smooth engagement from a stop (was: Help Me!)
I need some serious help.
I bought a new clutch from exedy for my car... it is a oem replacement... and now I cant get the car to go into first from a dead stop.
I am fine shifting gears with no jerking at all, as well as heel-toe and everything else.
But... when it comes to pulling out from stop signs and all that, I get all this jerking and usually a stall. On my old clutch I could get it in gear fine.
I have had it for about a week now, and its really upsetting me, becasue I have a feeling its really hurting the tranny as well as the car. Sometimes I stall 2-3 times before getting it to go.

Fixed thread title.
Your new clutch has a more aggressive friction material on the clutch disc. You either have to get used to it by learning to slip the clutch or replace it.
If you actually cannot get the transmission into first gear at a dead stop then that is a different problem - your clutch is not disengaging completely. Are you depressing the clutch pedal to the floor before shifting?
