serious clutch engagement issue
so what do i do if i just installed my new clutch, and i cannot put it in gear while the car is on, and the clutch pedal is pressed in all the way.. yet it can go in gear while the car is off...
cause it seems to me that pushing the clutch in all the way is not fully disengaging the clutch from making contact..
and when i start it while the car is in gear already and have the clutch pedal pushed in, the car moves forward as if the clutch pedal is not disengaging the clutch disk
and we can see while looking down into the tranny from where the release form goes in, that when you press the clutch pedal in it causes the pressure plate to relieve the clutch plate as it should.. yet the clutch still acts as if it is still being pressured by the pressure plate against the flywheel... i am so confused.. this has been a 20hour job...haha
thanks for the help.

haha. sorry bout that, but Im going to predict the trannys going to have to come back out, I dont think you guys put the fork in right if you can see it depress the pressure plate but still doesnt disengage the clutch disk, but you might be lucky and you just have to pull the fork off and reinstall it, when you put the tranny back on and pushed the fork back in place did you hear the 'click' from the TO bearing? did you accidentally turn your clutch slave upside down and get some air into it? try bleeding that too. good luck!

Had the same problem with an Exidy clutch from ebay. After we pulled everything apart again we found that the clutch disc had a crack in the housing making it fit much too tightly on the transmission input shaft.
This prevented the disc from sliding freely on the shaft, and the clutch wouldn't disengage. Replaced the disc and all is well.
Did you have a difficult time installing the tranny? i.e. was it 'hard' to push the tranny back onto the block?

that was exactly the issue dan!
and ya putting the tranny back up was a ****.
and fyi my car still doesnt work.. it still slips and i have NO clue why it is slipping if we replaced all the clutch stuff.. we replaced everything you should replace during a clutch install.. and its slipping with the same symptoms as before. slips when cold, doesn't slip when hot.
anyone have any idea?

hydraulic clutch.
and WRX409, the disk was messed up from the factory so it was stuck on the input shaft making it so it was always engaged.

I'm not sure what else to suggest. Did you get any grease or other contaminants on the flywheel, clutch disc, or pressure plate? Did you replace the pressure plate or only the disc?
Have you bled the hydraulic line? Is the pedal adjusted properly?

ok this is weird..
when my clutch starts to slip, i put it in neutral and pump it like crazy and it will stop slipping..... does that sound like a part in particular that could be failing?

wow...sounds like a big problem. We have that kind of a problem also with our exedy twin plate. Bought it brand new 3 drag races later it starts sliding. Keep adjusting it and it wont disengage anymore. It turns out we cracked the discs. We found out that exedy is not really rated for drag so we went and bought a much better clutch
I didn't catch the brand of your clutch but with exedy they offer tests for their products. I would try to call the manufacturer whatever it is also and maybe they offer testing service to see if it is 100% functioning properly (pressure force of pressure plate, etc)...hope this helps and keep working on it. It will soon be fixed.
