Clutch Replacement/ Clutch Life

Just wondering... What is the "normal" clutch life for an Impreza 5-speed?

I've been told it's 60 to 70,000 miles (I'm replacing mine at 59,500). Is this normal for Subies? I ask this, because the clutch on my Honda went over 120,000 miles, and over 150,000 on my Toyota. And these are "non-abused" cars, driven conservatively.

Why do Subie clutches wear out so fast?

I'm not sure what normal is on our cars, but I was once told by someone to expect only about 70,000 miles on a clutch from an AWD car. He wasn't referring to the Subarus specifically, but I'm sure it applies.

My Audi A4 and WRX both wear clutches out. It's called notire spin. On a FWD or RWD car the first thing to break loose is the tires, so they spin. On AWD tire don't spin very much so the clutch slips more. If not you break transmission parts.

I would say that it was believable that clutches wear faster on AWD cars, but I had a Mazda 323GTX (Turbo AWD) that had 140K on the
original clutch. I had to get the clutch replaced on my 97 OBS at 53K miles. I think that Subaru uses poor parts in their clutch/transmission.
At least for the 5MT.
