Clutch Replacement Question

All,
I have an 00RS and want to replace my clutch/flywheel and thinking of doing it myself. I found this link and it's pretty detail and I think I can do it.

http://home.nycap.rr.com/tmat3/clutch.html

The only thing is that I don't know how well can the floor jack hold up the transmission. I am afraid that it would tilt and fall on it's side and break something or someone Rest of the stuffs are pretty easy. I've either have done it before or helped someone with it in the past. But that was all with a lift and had a transmission stand (no longer have access to those).

Also, I am looking for the part number and price for the flywheel as well. I don't think I am going with aftermarket especially the flywheel (potential CEL problem). Just no need at this point... Unless the aftermarket clutch isn't that much more expensive.

Thanks!

flywheel for 00RS is $308.95 #12342AA000 or $50 to resurface

So, how heavy is the tranny? Any other way other than the floor jack?

well, I guess this answered one of my questions. I think I'll stick with stock for now since I don't any power mods...

ACT Streetlite flywheel (13.9lbs.) is only $200-250. I haven't had any problems on my WRX with this fly.

Check out this page from Gruppe-s...I bought my Streetlite while on sale here 2 weeks ago for 200:

Also, they have a Fidanza aluminum flywheel on their clearance rack for $255, but I believe they weigh in at approx. 9.5lbs., and that may be too light for your setup...?

Thanks for the info... them at gruppe-s.com as well.

But I don't think I am going with the lightweight flywheel. I rather go with light weigt pully. Just in case something goes wrong, it's easier to replace. I think most likely I am just going to re-surface my flywheel and that's it.

So, how about that tranny question?

You'll pick up more horsepower at the wheels with a lightened fly rather than a pulley, but I can see how you're playing on the safe side of things. Do the RS's have multiple cam sensors, like the WRX? I thought they only had 1, like the STi, because it's a 2.5 block?

As for the tranny questions, that's what I paid Gruppe-s to deal with...I didn't want to mess with rebuilding my trans with the RA gears, seemed too technical and time consuming.

I am not sure about the cam sensors...

This is what I am looking for but damn it's expensive!
