noises?
Is there any distinct noise coming from the tranny when you try to put it in gear? Have you tried to see if it will go into other gears other than first? A friend of mine had a similar problem with his 180sx not too long ago, but he was able to get the car to go in 2nd and 4th. He said his synchros took a dump for 1st 3rd and 5th. He drove around on 2nd and 4th gears for about 2 weeks before the whole gearbox took a phat deuce. Just gave him a reason to drop 6 G's on an HKS dogbox. Maybe it was a sign?
no pretty much everything sounds the same the car goes in to all gears. i wouldnt mind a 6 spd sti but i really dont have the money for that right now lol. i just want my baby fixed. i got a spec stage2 clutch in it now and i dunno if its my throw out bearing it my slave cylinder. thx tho

If you can put it in gear when the engine isn't running but the car moves when you turn the engine over with the starter and with the clutch pedal pushed all the way to the floor, the clutch is not disengaging properly.

Is your car still under warranty?
It has to be repaired before you can drive it, anyway. While I've driven a different car with a broken clutch cable (it happened far from home), it's hard on the starter because you have to shut it off to get it into first gear. That's a lot of stress on the starter because, in effect, you are moving the car using the starter! You're not really hurting the clutch when you do this because it's fully engaged all the time.
Check the clutch fluid reservoir first. If it's low, look for leaks. It may very well be the throwout bearing but that's more involved.

I had a problem when I went to play in the snow. I found out it had to do with a "syncro??" misalignment that fixed itself. I have a freind with a cobra mustang that has the same problem when he hammers through the gears. I got mine back in place by wiggling the shifter back and forth. I had to start out in second for a little while. No problems since.
some how my clutch ceased up and didnt move at all! so i sent it back for a replacment. spec clutches are great and customer service is awesome.. free new clutch w/lightened pressure plate! cut me a deal on a new flywheel spec clutches are awesome i just had a minor problem.
