Well on my way to work the old wrx 5spd finally let go. So once i got to work i pulled the transmission and today i opened the case up. 2nd gear on the input and output shaft is totaly destoryed. I don't know that much about these trannys or where to get parts so anyadvice would be great thanks............

 

i'm in the same boat...02 5spd got stuck in 3rd gear on friday...got the tranny pulled out and am gonna crack it open tonight...where is the best, i.e. "cheapest", place to buy stock replacement parts for the tranny? not looking to bulletproof it, just fix it and sell the damn thing. thanks.

mtm what year is your WRX? and did you kind of see this issue coming? Was it somewhat due to abuse? People usually end up replacing the gears with RA Gearsets, I think you can look for those in Gruppe-S.com

 

I have torn the transmission down and all i see that is damaged is 2nd gear on main shaft and countershaft, i will get some pics on here soon

 

post em up...i still have to crack mine open to see what the damage is...would be interesting to compare.
