Adjusting Shift Pedals
Hey Guys,
I'm in the process of learning to rev match/double clutch, and heel toe. The double clutching is going well (not as hard as I thought it would be thanks to some helpful pointers on NASIOC) but with the stock shift pedel layout (accelerator lower than brake pedel) it's practically impossible to do. Anyone know how easy it is to adjust the pedels, or tips for changing them around?

...most people think the stock pedal locations are perfect for heal-toe. Are you leaving your toe on the brake while you swing your heal out for the gas? It would be hard to do the opposite, that's for sure.
Maybe I'm just not pushing down on the brake hard enough... do you push fairly hard on the brakes with your toe while blipping the throttle with your heel? My feet are kinda on the big side so I'm still getting used to it.. Any pointers would be helpful.

I'm not a racer or an expert or anything, but I'll try to help you out. I only do the heal-toe and double clutch when I'm trying to go fast through a corner that I have to down shift for. I brake as late as possible, hard (normal cornering technique I think...). While my right toe is on the brake hard, I put in the clutch and shift to neutral, let off the clutch, blip the throttle with my right heal, hit the clutch again and shift to the lower gear, then let the clutch out. It all happens so quick the brake is on pretty much the whole time, but I suppose it doesn't allways have to be. If you do it right, when you let the clutch out the last time there'll be no shudder or jerk and you'll be pulling through and out of the turn. It took me a few days of doing it on low speed corners before I tried to use it to go faster. It seems harder than it is, though, so practice and you'll have it in no time.
Thanks for the help brotha. So I suppose people don't generally double clutch unless they are taking corners; for example someone on a straight line attack wouldn't waste time double clutching? I thought double clutching led to smoother shifts in general whether taking turns or driving in a straight line...

Double clutching really only helps on down shifts...on up shifts, it just takes up more time. Vin Diesel was wrong...you're not supposed to double clutch while drag racing hahaha. But you're right, you can double clutch while slowing down in a straight line...which is helpful if you're slowing down and not stopping. Like if I know the light will turn green soon, I'll double clutch and down shift. But if I know I'm gonna have to stop, I save the extra clutch cycle and just shift into neurtral. Technically I think you're not supposed to do that because of the law, but how the hell is a cop gonna be able to tell if you are coasting in neutral right.
It's really just personal preference though. Some people here double clutch and heal toe every down shift, some only in turns, some double clutch without heal toe, etc... But if you learn the heal toe and double clutch, then you can figure out what's most comfortable for you. Good luck learning, like I said I'm sure you'll get it in just a few days of practice.
