blew my 4EAT
blew my 4eat whiel launching it. broke one of the gears in it. Im thinking about swaping in a 5mt. i remember long time ago like 4 months my friend sent me a link to store from i think AZ(not vividracing) that sold used jdm/usdm 5MT. just curious if any one knows where i can pick up a 5mt for cheap?

Did you neutral drop it? Cuz the 4EAT is supposed to be bulletproof. Are you sure you broke a gear? Usually its the center diff that goes first.

I'm selling my "02 WRX 5mt with matching ratio rear diff for $750 CDN (~$600USD), you'd need a clutch and flywheel, plus a peddlebox from Subaru. So, for about:
$750 5mt
$500 clutch and flywheel
$280 peddlebox
$??? labor and wiring
It only costs about $2000 CDN (or ~$1600 USD), to do a 4eat to 5mt conversion. The wiring is the big pain.
Or my mechanic up here in Ontario, Canada, may still have a 4eat laying around from a recent '02 WRX conversion to 5mt.
Call him or email directly if you are interested, he has my tranny at his shop, and may still have the 4eat at his shop unless it was sold.

Sorry I missed replying until now.
Wiring: I think you have to jump a few wires from the eat module to get it to work without cel. Iain knows what to do, give him a call. His number is in my previous post.
You don't need to swap ecu's.
I don't know how long to ship a tranny to the US, I've never shipped anything that big there. Iain has, as he sold my old engine to someone in the US and shipped it there for me.
