Automatic to Manual

I have a 95 impreza and I want to swap my automatic for a manual but what I'm wondering is do I need the rear differential from the other car to put in mind or do I not need to worry about it because it's the same make model and year

I know at least with the 2002's, the rear diff for the automatic was a 4.44 final drive, and the manual was a 3.9, therefore requiring that to be swapped as well. I'll see if I can find the list of stuff needed for the swap. Before I forget though, if I do find the list, two things that should have been on there was a new shifter trim (the interior part of the center console) and the starter.

I really appreciate the info and the help. A lot of people are telling me to just forget about it and get another car, but I kinda want to fix up the one I have. Especially since I can fit almost any impreza engine in it.

If it helps, and you definitly want to do it (and honestly, it would kick a** if you did) you can find a really good amount of info on rs25.com, they are almost the bible for gc's and gf's, these guys do full motor and harness ripouts and drivetrain swaps just cause they like the design of the old models, so i feel you'll find more answers there than here, but in all honesty, im fairly sure the rear diffs were the same for the manuals and autos in the gc's and gf's, however don't quote me on it.. Just dont forget your clutch cylinder, pedal, and odds are, you'll need longer axles too, and a longer driveshaft, i know the 5 speed are usually smaller than the 4eats, and it usually requires axle changes for front and driveshaft. I'm researching my own 4eat to 5 mt mod too, 4eats suck when it comes to handling power, at least from superchargers, which is the route ill be going.

I thought it was 4.11.
