the sti is basically a super fixed up wrx and in production which sells legally. WRX STi is the name, engine code EJ25.

The rods are forged on the STi, Block is a Semi-closed deck, the pistons....well Forged ??? Cast????? much debate. lets just call them super secret pistons since some people at Subaru say they are forged and others say they are not.

I have an 04' WRX. I would like to buy an STI. This rex is my first subbie. I have driven it for about 6 months and i think I'm going to get an sti for me and keep the wrx for my wife. The only thing is...... Does any one think that the wrx built to the hilt may be a good sleeper. If you pull up to an evo or now a srt-4 with an wrx they will look at you and know that they will beat you. If it is built they may be supprised. It may bee kinda cool. It is cool to show off by sporting the sti badges but sleepers are alot more fun. 2 cents

I do think the sti is a better car though. If you check around when you swap the 2litre for the 2.5 sti you have to change the whole drive ttrain and some wireing. Sti is more car.

Its almost worth the money for the gearbox alone. Then add way more power, better suspension, wheels & tires, resale value, etc. etc. etc.
Yes.

You can get a WRX for $23k out the door. You can get an STi for about $33k out the door. The transmission alone would cost you ~$6k to install, and is worth every penny. The Brembos would cost around $2k. The wheels are worth about $1500 with the tires. That puts you within $500 of total cost, and that's without even considering engine mods. On the other hand, there's always just buying this instead.

I agree with all of the above. I HAD to settle on an 02 WRX because: 1. I needed a car right then and could'nt wait, 2. I needed the extra $$ for other projects, and 3: my alt 1/2 would have had a super brownie if I bought a car for $30K with NO radio. Cie la vie! (She loves the 6-disk CD, which I rarely use).

This is what the STi and WRX have in common, looks. They dont drive like eachother at all. Dont sound the same, dont feel the same. It shouldnt be called the WRX STi, it should just be the STi b/c they are so different from eachother. My STi blows away my modified 03 WRX (RIP) and it is stock. Go for the pink, you wont regret it.
