Speeding help
I got a ticket. I was on my way home and there is a road that is a 1way 3 lane road. I was all alone so i gunned it for a second. The next thing i know i was pulled over. He said 58 in a 35. There was no posted speed limit sign anywhere close to the spot where i got my ticket. Should i fight it? The ticket is almost 150.00. The worst part is that there was a van about 4500 ft ahead and i guess i was doin' 60 and he was running away from me. Guess thats what i get for having a wrx.

hahah that sucks for you
the same thing happened to me so here is my advice.
Do not try to fight it persay. Check the surrounding area and make sure there is not a posted speed limit. If there are any posted speed limits withing a 1/4 miles of when the cop Spotted you then you can not win the fight. I didnt fight the case and I was going 13 miles over the speed limit. GO TO Court, pleed guilty w/ explanation if you choose to, and the judge wont give you any points but you will have to pay the fine. Hard lesson to learn but thats life.

I did check the area and there were no posted speed limit signs. The closest one was north of where i turned onto this road. From where i turned on the road to the next intersection(approx. 1 mile) there are no posted signs. I noticed last night when i drove this road again there is a school there and there is not even a school zone or reduced speed sign. This area seems to be poorly marked. Maybe that's why he was there. Speedtrap anyone!I probably will just pay the fine, and i know that i probably deserve the ticket. I know that there have been times in the past where i should have gotten a ticket and did not. In Indiana this ticket will remove 2 points from my lisence. For $ 25 i can take a drivers course and get the two points back. This may save me later incase i get another ticket.
When i get another ticket. Also just to add, ichecked up and i can pettition the city to have speed limit sighn placed in this area. It is free and i need only 25 signatures form anyone who lives in the city limit. This sign will cost the approx. $200. At least my money will pay for something.

Unfortunately, you will probably find that there is some law that says that in the absence of a sign, the speed limit is 35 (Or whatever) inside city limits, 55 (Or whatever) on highways, etc.
I know that in Virginia there is a set of speeds that apply where there is no sign.

^^^^ ditto, I have one too. This is what you need to do. Get a court/madgestrate appearance. The cop will tell the judge what happened in his view then you tell yours. Tell what you told us, and say that you are willing to pay the fine but cannot afford the points. Most likely you will get off with the fine and no points. Also before going into the court, talk with the cop. Most of the time they are really cool and will tell the judge to give you a break. I have had to do this a number of times. If your lucky the cop wont show up and you will get off by default. When that is all done give Valentine 1 a call and give them $400 and get a device that will save you thousands and many points.

Right on man......400 bucks may seem like alot for a radar detector, but the range is unbelievable...and it tells you where the cops are and how many. It also has the best settings to help you tell what's the po and what's an alarm system or store door.
V1 has won every year for best radar except this year. The reason for this is the magazine said it "looked" out date. It still beat everything else in the area's that matter "finding cops". Lost by like 2 points for bad looks.

pay the fine. you "gunned it for a second" because you felt safe enough to do so. in reality sometimes we do it because it feels good to do it. cops sometime remind us that there are places to "feel good" at.(tracks). let the 150 be an educational fee. NOW, if there is a loophole in the law in regards to posted speed limits then by all means go that route.
