Saab 9-2x v. WRX

Im new to these boards, currently i drive an RSX 5MT which is going off lease in december. so im in the market for a new car. ive gone thru a ton of cars from S2000's, used S4's, Evos, STi, etc. u get the picture. but of course $$$ is a factor and i really want AWD Turbo. im tired of FWD, and RWD + Winter doesnt sound like fun. so right now im thinking either a WRX or a 9-2x. same car basically, some differences besides cosmetics. so my question is w/ the amazing lease deals thru GMAC the SAAB is actually cheaper, but im not crazy about wagons. sorry guys lol. im not even crazy about 4doors but i cant get everything i want. so is the difference in price worth the wagon aspect?

also, how do they compare performance wise? the 9-2x is a little heavier if i recall.

any info would be great guys!

...oh yea Aspen White or San Remo Red WRX w/ premium pkg or Brillant Red 9-2x w/ sport and premium pkg

but evo and sti are awd turbo?

if you can live with the wagon, i'd get the saab, especially if it's a better deal. it's good looking (even if it's a wagon) and the upgrades are more than skin deep. reviews i've read praised the suspension upgrades and sound deadening stuff. it's a bit heavier and slightly slower, but they're probably negligible. i mean, just look at wheels!

There were changes that were made to the suspension of the Saab but I heard a rumor that Subaru was incorporating these changes in the new cars (not sure if it is just a rumor and if it isn't, when Subaru will make the changes).

I also believe that the Saab costs more than the WRX. I'm guessing it has a nicer interior along the lines of the other Saabs.

If you are planning on doing engine mods to the car, I think you would be better off with the WRX. I know there were discussions on the Cobb website regarding ECU upgrades for the Saab and they stated that the AccessPort, AccessECU and reflashing that they do would not work on the Saab and they weren't planning on support development. There is a whole lot of mods that are readily available for the WRX already on the market.

I really appretiate the replies guys. I think im gonna go w/ a San Remo Red WRX 5MT w/ premium package. The mod support is there, its a sedan, sporty, wish the seats folded, but i hear theres a simple two bolt fix for that, and i dont like the Saab community, they all ***** about the 9-2x.

thanks!

The 9-2x Aero has the STi steering rack, so there is a little tighter steering. And different suspension as well.

yea true, tho i thought the '05 WRX got some steering updates as well? and id assume the sedan has less body roll than a wagon (lower center of gravity?)

That 2 grand also includes leather, right? FWIW, I had leather put in my WRX Wagon when I bought it for just under a grand. The Saab's leather could very likely be of higher quality, though.

Under pressure bushings can squeeze and move around a bit. Upgraded bushings will be stiffer and offer better handling and control.

saab wagon and wrx = completely the same inside and out. both car makes are partially owned by gm and that's why they are so similar.
