Saab WRX/subaru 9-2
As far as I know, the Saab is going to be EXACTLY like the WRX, except what you see on the outside. I believe the base model is going to have the 2.5 liter H4 and the top of the line will have the 2.0 liter H4t. I can't believe that Subaru is actually allowing them to use the boxer engine and AWD system. I guess GM had a pretty big influence in this matter. Pretty sad that this is happening, but leave it up to GM to screw things up. Apparently in the GM forums, they are ranting and raving about this car, but what the hell do those clowns know about having loyalty to a car manufacturer that marched to the beat of its own drum.

A Japanese auto site that seems to be a jump on anything automotive.

I'm looking forward to that. We have both a WRX and a 9-3SS at home now. I have always been attracted to the fact that Saab is not BMW, and Subaru is not Honda
Hope the Saab guys had enough time and budget to make the 9-2 a little more different than the Impreza. Will have to wait for that.

Besides, Chevy already knows how to make sub-compacts, right? We all know everyone on this board really wanted a Cavalier or Sunfire, but settled for a Subaru...

I am not a big fan of multi-platform vehicles or sharing same models and change the outside to trick the buyers. But, I am willing to make an exception on this case.
And let's admit it. Subaru is not known for their design. This will be an opportunity for Saab fans to experience the superior handling of Subaru's technology... (except the crappy tranny).
Anyway, I wonder if STI version will ever make it to 9-2 model line up... I heard 2.0 liter turbo will be 9-2x's Aero (as in type-R or M of Saab)...
Hm...
Also, I wonder what the interior will look like...

The interior will either be awesome or terrible.
My brother and his wife both have Saabs (he has a 2001 9-3 5 door and she has I think a 99 9-5 wagon) and I can't stand the interior. You can tell from the interior that Saab also makes airplanes. It feels like the aircraft of a small plane. Plus, the window switches and ignition are on the center console. I can sort of understand the ignition(or atleast what they claim is the reasoning, so the ignition doesn't injure your leg in the event of a collision) but there's no practical reason for the power window switches to be there. Though when I drove my brothers 9-3 and stalled it I freaked out for a second when i went to start it on the steering column and forgot the ignition was elsewhere
Overall though, it just felt weird to me. Even riding in my sister in laws 9-5 was strange the other weekend. I dunno, the interiors are just too different from the mainstream for me. Perhaps the 9-2 will be more normal.
