I thought the G35 was coming out w/ intelligent AWD soon, where it's RWD until it feels loss of traction and switches over... I knew the R34 had it..

The current Skyline is the G35 here but no GTR model for the G35.

The real history on the Skyline since 1968.

Well there have only been a few GTR models. We'll start in 1968 when the first one came out.

The first GTR was in 1968-1972 Body designation PGC10 (which was a nicknamed the Hokosuka (Box) GT-R) with a 2.0 liter inline 6 called the S20. RWD only.

in 1972-1977 the GTR version went to the L20 motor and body designation of C110 (nick name Ken & Mary) RWD only.

In 1977 the GTR badge fell off for the next 10 or so years.

In 1977-1980 the Skyline 2000GT-ES came out with the L20E and later a turbo version (THE FIRST TURBO Skyline) in 1980 with the L20ET. Body designation C211. RWD only.

In 1980-1985 the Nissan name change took place and the "R" body series was born. With the introduction of the DR30 Skyline. This car was equipped with a different selection of engines. The most powerful at the time was the FJ20DET at 205ps. RWD only.

1985-1991 saw the HR31 series Skyline. The GTS-X and GTS-R were top of the line and sported the first RB series motor, the RB20DET. at 198ps and 210ps. RWD only.

1989-1994 saw the BCNR32 Skyline GTR. The first Skyline to use the GTR badge since 1977. With the RB26DETT and AWD (also first Skyline to use the ATTESSA AWD system) with 280ps.

1993-1999 saw the BCNR33 Sklyine GTR.

40th anniversary of the Skyline saw the Autech Skyline GTR 4 door.

1998-2002 was the BNR34 GTR

and of course...

2002 saw the death of the GTR once again, the death of the RB26DETT. The R series body designation was changed to "V" and the V35 is where we are at now.

No GTR in production, Nissan is tinkering around and trying to make some damn money under Renaults control, (who axed the most practical entry level Sports car, the Silvia, from it's lineup and in my opinion hurting more than helping.)

Sorry if long winded, but I happen to know a bit of Skyline history. Lived in Japan for 10+ years, and played with enough of them (from age 18-29) lived, breathed, ate and slept Nissan while I was there But I'm better now....got a WRX

The 2006 G35 Model (Skyline) has AWS on the RWD platform. The 2007 will have a GTR model Available;however, they will be priced in the 80K range, and they're only producing 4500 of them world wide.

The G35x has AWD. But, it's a 4dr that features high rider suspension (higher ride height) & a slushbox.
