according to my good buddy in japan- if subaru does release a better sti version in the u.s. they will do it just to beat the evo.
speculation they would come out with the spec c. although they won't be able to get away with no safety beams possibly aluminum beams. . . and possibly aluminum ROOF?
we will see. . .
i'd like to see subaru pull out the "ace" once again. . .

Thats 300lbs from the highest point of the car thus efficiently lowering the Evo MR's center of gravity which, in turn, will increase its abilty to take turns with minimal body roll. Further more the Evo MR will bring AYC and a DCCD to the table. Yup this car will be sick!

Uhhh... the steel roof doesn't even weigh 300 pounds... weight savings from the aluminum roof is probably around 40 pounds. the 300 pounds is from ALL of the weight saving measures, which include no AC, no power windows/locks/mirros, no sunrrof option, no ABS, no wing, etc. etc... the weight is not worth losing all those things from a street car, especially when it's as good as it is in "base" form.

Actually the weight loss also comes from another area. That's the decrease in weight of your wallet, or at least the contents. I can't imagine what the insurance companies will charge for this baby. They will probably have to invent a new cost calculator for this. Someone always has to rain on the parade huh.

Uh, I don't think the insurance will be all that bad...
Insurance for me on an Evo would be $200 LESS each 6 months than my 04 WRX, because Mitsu parts are cheaper. Assuming MR comes out here in full form (4.3 0-60, AYC, 6spd, etc...) I will absolutely positively buy one, even if I have to sell a kidney, I don't care.
