Cosworth engine blocks alone are expensive and hard to come buy (not made in large numbers) so I seriously doubt they would try to sell them in the consumer market. They would be relatively expensive compared to the WRX and even STi price range, not to mention low volume cars. Ford wouldn't be able to make much money from marketing them to the general public. Just my 2 cents.

I read and article in Motor Week and the Focus will not be 300hp but more like 200-220. However there is a group doing cobra motor conversion to the Focus and all the body work needed to handle the load for a price of 80k complete. Now that is a sleeper..

Say what you want, the Cosworth Focus, SRT-4, GTO, Evo, etc are great cars in their own right.
I'm just sick of all this BS I've been seeing about SRT-4 vs. WRX and what's better. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and ultimately what you choose reflects what you value more.
That is all.

Hey, but this is a Subaru site, so let's ONLY talk about Subies, mmkay? Geez, how could you even suggest that a FORD can be in the same ballpark as a Scooby?
Blasphemy, I tell ya.
I say we all just relax and face the fact that the STi still is nothing but a souped up economy car.

personally, i'd love to see a 250-300hp focus come to the states. i might not buy one, but it would certainly force some of the other manufacturers to raise the bar even further. maybe we could Peugot to release an AWD 206 here...okay, now i'm dreaming.

hell yeah, i'd be tempted by a Group-N AWD Tiburon with arrond 300hp. the thing Hyundai sells now has the looks, but it's gutless.
it's also be nice to see Audi bring out a two door sedan/hatchback answer to the WRX and run it in the WRC. somebody has to stop this freakin' peugot domination.
actually, speaking of which, why the hell don't we get Citroens here? an AWS Xsara? that'd be *way* tempting.

But Audi doesn't have the ***** to do that. They're too cool now.

Don't get me started on this. I'm drooling at the thought of having a 25th or 30th anniversary Sport Quattro powered by a direct injection inline 5 turbo w/K29 for 500HP ;-)

Do you guys remember the Merkur XR4Ti? It was the closest thing the US saw to the hot rod Ford Escort in the 80's. My guess is that Ford would never spend the money to get a hot rod Focus legal for sale in the U.S.

They could call it the Audi 'RXS' (Rallycross Sport) and sell it as a in between the AllRoad and the RS6 for those who require just abit more comfort & power and are willing to pay for it but don't mind getting a little dirt in their wheel wells.
I'd pay for it and not think twice about an STi.

Better yet give me a short wheelbase Audi 'Allroad' with the V8 from the 'S4' (base) or the V-10 bi-turbo DI diesel making 500lb/ft torque from the VW Touareg ('05 option), make it a 3-door fast back ala '80's 'Sport Coupe' fame keep all the cool, functional and user adjustable Allroad electro-suspension bits, plug in the manumaticalong with front, center & rear locking diffs from the upcoming VW Touareg plus paddle shifters standard, throw on 17" rims with tires that have enough sidewall to flex over medium sized rocks make it weigh no more than 3,975 lbs with Alcantra & leather interior surfaces, make the back seats a pair of buckets that recline and increase/decerease in height just like the driver & passenger seats with options that include an integrated pop-up roof rail system and an integrated class III hitch reciever and price it at $55K even!

. oh, and i think that the new VW W8 motor might be a better choice, having a massive twin turbo V8 or big V10 in the front of a little hatchback would make it handle like it had an anvil in between the front wheels.
