There are plenty of stories of people driving either car faster than the other. Buy what you want. You seem to enjoy the looks of the Z, looks are important to you, that's cool get the Z. However which Z is it? Perhaps the Track model with the Brembos et al? A new bone stock WRX will cut (high)13's in the 1/4. And the mileage is better. But this isn't Consumer Reports, you want a to buy a cool car. My deciding factor might be the fact that if I can go new as opposed to used, I prefer new(add my own smells and stains etc.) Remember that it's not a bargain if you don't like it.

Any news on what you're getting/leaning towards?

Just for kicks I'mma have to say 350z. Although not very practical it's so sexy looking.

This is an old thread but i can't help it. I think both are excellent cars. well made. Very similar with little differences. The Z is probably more refined. Power band is more balanced and smooth compared to the turbo cars. I will probably choose this if geared towards daily driver. If you want brute strength and power I will go for the subie. It is cheaper therefore more money for mods plus the never ending line of aftermarket support. Racing application wise you can use both for road racing, autocross. etc because both of them are excellent platforms with capable engines and suspensions. Appearance wise I thought that the subie looks awesome. Very different so it doesn't blend in looking like regular import car.

As much as I like looks, I believe that I would have more fun (financially as well) modding and driving the subie, especially as it will be a daily driver. I'm still working out finances and will have to make my decision by early May. Strongly leaning towards the subie though..

not many japanese cars really worth getting over a subaru impreza. if u want something with speed and the AWD is a great thing too.

Cons: 350z interior isnt that well constructed, been in a couple and it looks crappy for the price people pay for them.

you should post this on a 350z forum. then you can get ideas on what to get from both sides. i'd say the 03-06 Zs are easier to mod. 07 and up is different, but more parts are coming and are relatively similar to the older model. it's a tough call. one that you will have to make wisely. good luck

I had a 350 Z, traded in on an sti. When I had the Z I bought a 3' x 2' bulletin board and it wouldn't fit in the back. I would have had to leave my wife to get the board home(yes I considered it).

Pros Z Good looking and great exhaust sound stock.
WRX More room and easier mods.

Cons Z Doesn't even have a glove box.
WRX Not as sexy looking
