of course they have more potential, but its always fun to pull up in a lesser car and smoke a stock vette or stang......the look on their faces is always priceless!!!

every other car mentioned has far more potential than an sti.
I'd agree with that. A fully modded STi would get walked hard by a modded Z06. A fully modded STi would compete with a Shelby though in the quarter (more than likely loose) but it would eat it alive at auto-x without question.

Shelby vs STi/EVO
Z06 vs Ford GT/F430/Lambo VT series
i'll agree with that.
sti and evos will be no match for the shelby though.

i saw a video of the new z06 with a 150 shot the other day.... wow.

Once again this is not a debate about SVTs so quit trooling this thread (go back to the n00b arguement WRX 4 SALE). As far as the Mustang/STi comparision, there is NO mustang that compares to an STi stock vs. stock. It takes a Cobra.

By using what yardstick?

There's an STi on ebay right now for a buy-it-now of $28k. That's a difference of several 10s of thousands of dollars. Swap in an LS2 into an STI for $10k, $38k. Take a sawzall to the STI and replace panels with thinner aluminum. $48k. Larger turbo, internals, tuning...$58k(?) Am I nearing the price of the Z06?

Again, the debate is between the Z06 and the Skyline, nothing else.

I think that the Z06 is an awesome car but it will fall into the typical GM productions scheme where is awesome at the time and then everyone else progresses and catches up until they come out with a new model. The last version is a prime example of that. The Skyline as a technology advantage in the fact that it has a good decade before it of near total reign in the respect of speculations, legitmate tour victories, etc...(it was often too good in fact and was banned in many places) and it's predecessors were all awesome competitors.

Well yeah if you want to do all that but then it's not really an STi either. It's a psuedo GM hybrid. I'm talking stock components vs. stock components. If you're going to use that philosophy I'll take an S2000, gut it and drop a dry sump NSX engine in it and go from there.

Nice NSX2000, I'd like to see that......

get the vette......f*ck it.....

the reason your girlfriend said she'd help with the payments on the vette is because her panties got all wet when you mentioned you were thinking about buying one....

I'm sure she'd be more happy with american muscle than Japanese technical and engineering superiority.....

I think she'd prefer some Italian Stallion but that's beside the point.

^^Yes, but the debate is between a vette or skyline, I don't think she would quite understand the whole skyline thing...

HAHA I know. That sucks so much. When you have something on your car that you value more than life and try to explain it to a women and all you can come up with "that is the Louis Vuitton of suspensions" and you get this confused look.

Right, but that's what I'm saying.

Stock vs. stock, from what I've seen Z06 wins in each category but does the margin of victory over a stock STi equal the additional $34k?

I'd love to have a Z06, but for a person of normal means, as the value of the car increases, the probability of wanting to take it to the track decreases. Are you buying the car for it's performance even though it'll be a daily driver? Will you track it 2 or 3 times a year?

So, for someone who can afford to own and maintain a $70k car, why buy something that can compete with Ferrari? Do the women at the office or at the nightclub know what lateral G's are? Or CoD? Or HP to wt? HP per inches^3?

Gimme a sharp looking car with a pleasing amount of hp for under $35k.

BTW, Skyline-schmyline. Y'all know that's a G35 for 3 times the money. The board has generally been appreciative of the G, but not major nut-swingers. Won't it be funny when the rubber meets the road, that the R34 owns the 2007 Skyline?

If always been a strong supportter of making "something out of nothing". I'd rather take an STi or an EVO and dump 150,000 into it and keep the change then buy a Ferrari personally. I'll beat him to the club and buy a round of drinks for the whole place when I get there.
