vette for sure its a 7.0l small block that has ti rods and spins 7000 rpm runs an 11 sec. 1/4 mile over 190 top speed the shelby cobra will be close but there is no way the mustang cobra will be and handling is the same story cobra will be close not the stang. look at it this way ford is just catching up to where chevy was 7 years ago

they just came out with the 300hp mustang gt, in 1998 the z28 had 305!

if your stuck on ford get the gt not the mustang the gt40 gt that car is way pimp.

yea right...do u realize how hard it is to get a Ford GT? In my town its kinda easy....if you have $217k laying around theres a red one at green valley ford (ford of fairfield) but if u cant get that which im sure the guy cant with it being so expensive....get the GT500 its going to be about $45-50k compared to the Z06 being 60-70k with the shelby being far more rare than a z06 will be it would not only be a better investment...but better bang for the buck and plus with the money spent and having some left over compared to getting the 60-70k vette u can use that towards engine mods!

PS - that reminds me...i need to start saving for the GT500 by going to SF and ask everyone in the city for 2$ for bart claiming im lost and need to get back home or something which will work fairly well since i wont look homeless lol



the GT500 looks FAR more badass than the z06 IMO...if you watch Top Gear the lads over there HATE the 06 vette in every aspect

Yes, it looks like they took the older model Skyline and combined it with an Elise.

Of course they won't... Like with Subaru and the Alfa bullnose , they'd much rather stick to their agenda by making the car appeal to everyone rather than track enthusiasts. We're talking about the same group that took the brembos off the G35 because they were too loud for some. this is also the same company that produced 2 sports coupes when the trend is to have a billion different models of SUV and pickup trucks.

the story on the G35 brakes, the way i've heard it, is that infiniti was getting raked over the coals on warranty claims for worn pads. their market is not buying the car for track use, doesn't understand that brembo's are a fast wearing, high performance, spendy set of brakes. the 2-piston brakes they replaced them with have the same size calipers as the brembo's, much larger than the '03 and '04 non-brebmo's.

btw, m3's use single piston brakes, and i've never heard anybody ***** about them. the new 2-pistons aren't that bad at all.

ok, what some of you guys dont understand is that the shelby has a 5.4 DOHC V8 that is fully built and topped with a lysolm twin screw blower (aka: whipple). that just happens to be the same setup thast in the ford GT, what a coincidence...... the eatons that come on the 03/04's are crap, very inefficient. this is why people buy kenne bell twins screws. i have 2 friends with kenne bell cobras and another that is having his installed in the next few weeks. the motor thats in the shleby will be able to make over 600rwhp WITH BOLTONS! im taking exhaust, intake, a pulley and a tune. through some nitrous or cams into the mix and we are talking insane numbers. it will be the bid daddy of the straight line. the Z06 will out handle a cobra anyday, cause its built to do so. the new cobra has the option of IRS, but i doubt too many poeple are gonna go with it as the live axel is a lot better for drag racing, which is what 90% of the buyers of that car are going to do with it. thats one thing a lot of poeple hate about the 03/04's. so do what u want, i know if i had the money ide def get the cobra, mod it and wax anything that challenged me.

If you are set on buying one of those, then go with the ZO6. Even if the Vette is heavily based on a Ferrari or other cars, the Ford GT is based deeply on a 360 Modena. It's not uncommon for car companies to use other cars technology or principles. (The GT uses basically the same shifter as the NSX as well)->courtesy of BMI

if by using a 360 to do performance tests and make sure the GT could beat it in every aspect, then yes it is. if u think that they shared parts with ferrari then you are very wrong. ford used the 360 as its benchmark when building a super car, that is the ONLY common thread between the 2 cars. so if thats what u were talking about, then yes, you are correct.

I don't know about everyone else, but I despise the C6's headlights; they look way too aftermarket, especially for a domestic sports car with a rich heritage like the Corvette. IMO, black is the only colour that works for the C6's.

Straight line, id get the cobra and spend the rest of the money i saved from the z06 on some parts and make plenty of power...

On a track, its the vette.

looks wise, the c6 looks awesome imo but the cobra looks soooo mean so i dont know. the c6 will probably get me more *** so maybe id go with the c6.

ive have spent 15k+ already on my car. my thinking as of now,even though my cars paid of.i live in natomas,if i start getting _uck with (cops,PIGS), i MIGHT think about selling my STI and going out and buy an all black(not the red w/white strips) shelby cobra GT500 and pay cash for it.

last thing i need is to have my car impounded and see it for sale at a repo action.
well see how bad its going to get...........

The new Cobra is very sweet, but the new ZO6 is also sick. I dont know if i could choose between the two. I might take the Cobra considering it has a detuned Ford GT engine, imagine that thing with a KB 2.4 'charger

COBRA, a corvette is just a corvette, but get the cobra save the money, take care of it and sell it at an auction in 20 years for 200 grand.
