You went OT first by bashing bugeyes. For the record, the 06 front end is indeed hideous, which is why it sways a lot more ppl on this suby board to the evo side

lol, seriously. I don't think he's even driven one. Comparing a 06 model evo vs other DSMs is saying the C6 vettes are slow because the C4s were

Maybe, but I'm not convinced that's the primary reason. I think most people base their decisions on other factors, too. As old Subie fans move to the Evo (which is entirely reasonable), new folks will become Subie fans. Also, it may be true that a lot of people on this board are turning to the Evo, but this does not imply a large number of Subie people are moving to the Evo. You may read about this brand conversion in a couple of specific threads here, but it might simply be because it's where those voices are heard. These voices certainly don't represent the entire Subie community. I have read on different forums that a lot of Subie fans have updated their cars with the '06 models, and are thoroughly happy. Furthermore, in any brand there's usually an influx of owners that replaces an outflux. But you won't know for sure what the fluctuation balance is until you see Subaru sales number at the end of the year.

Be careful with sweeping generalization not based on real numbers.

$0.02.

Thanks.

Only time will tell how successful the GDF will be, but I predict it'll be parsecs ahead of the now 4 year old bugeye.
I always thought the bugeye looked ugly. Then the 04-05 front came out and that was a lot better and I thought they were going in a good direction with the design. Then the 06 came out and ruined it again. I like the projector headlights but that center grill has to go.

Ive heard this somewhere before, but who buys a subaru for the looks? I bought my 02 bugeye cause its a kick *** car! When they first came out I was like "WTF?!?" All cars grow or fade on me.

Both the evo and sti are amazing vehicles, but I have more faith in Subaru. Ive had numerous friends and family own subarus and they are truly great cars in my experience

Thanks for checking into the numbers. I'm not inclined to bet you on either high or low sales. I haven't made a claim that the sales number will be high or will plunder for the '06.

Incidentally, what is the period of the sales figure that you looked at? I ask because the 06 has been out for only several months so I'm not sure if these numbers reflect a rejection of the 06, or just represent a lag period while the 05 models get purchased. (Will you kindly share with us the source that you looked at.)

Perhaps you are correct that sales for the 06 will drop, but to predict this with preliminary numbers of such a short period might not be most accurate. I don't want to turn this into an "us against you" post -- just hoping to keep it objective instead of emotive.

Thanks.

What does boost pressure have to do with turbo lag? Have you driven a 05 or 06 evo? The turbo lag is drastically reduced on the 05 over 03/04 and the 06 with Mivec even more so.

Last time I checked the clutch transfers power from the flywheel to the tranny.

Actually, I've had friends who don't dump their clutch and it goes out at around 40k miles. There's plenty of people who do dump clutches on Evos and the EXPECT it to go out in about 10k miles. What I said about the clutch having some kind of shock absorption thing is just what my friend with an evo8 told me (I admit I don't know all that much 'cept from what he tells me).

Also, to answer your question, no I haven't driven an 05 or 06 considering many mitsubishi dealerships require you to sign a paper saying that you will purchase the car after driving it, which is retarded. Have you? According to both R&T, and C&D, the Evo still has a lot more lag than the STi.

I've driven my buddy's Evo with engine mods, and it is a beast. All that power can quickly kill any drive line. My friend's drivetrain seems healthy and is probably very healthy, only because he doesn't dump it but instead launches the car with skillful precision and drives it aggressively with the smoothness of a professional racer. You just have to learn to make the car explosive without abusing it. He said that a couple of perfromance-driving courses can save your car a lot of wear and tear, not to mention make you and the car that much faster.

Many of us should learn how to drive a car fast, before blaming the components of the car.

Thanks.

You can't say that the lower sales are only due to the styling. All of the rebates and deep discounting of the cars over the past few years has put huge numbers of new cars on the road. IMO, either someone can't get a new car or they probably already have one.

Also, there were better financing options prior to now.

Again, I like the STI. I only drove an EVO8 so I can't directly compare, but I like the STI because it didn't seem quite as high strung.
