Evo 9 for sure... the 06 STI I'm sure is every bit as capable or more than the 05 ones but damn that front end just looks wierd.

And I'd get the normal Evo 9 than the MR. Save yourself 4-5K. The Evo 9 has a regeared 5 speed that has better acceleration than the old 5 speed and the aluminum roof for lower center of gravity is nice on the MR but not worth the extra cost. Bilstein dampers and BBS wheels sure, but if you're going to mod, its worthless anyway.

I liked the appeal of the EVO, but the Subaru just seemed to be the better choice. 1. Proximity of the dealer, 2. Strength of the company, 3. More torque/bigger motor

I can't believe all these folks on a "Subaru" forum, voting for the Evo. What the heck? I mean is the Suby a poor mans Evo? he he!

+1 for the Evo!

Evo engines are easier to work on, too.

Wrong, the weak link is kids doing clutch drops and blowing up the transfer case. The EVO 5spd is very stout.

The clutch on the Evo dies quickly. It has something to do with instead of putting all the pressure on the tranny it goes to the clutch instead.

The only reason why I'd pick an STi over the Evo is the extra .5L really takes out a lot of turbo lag. Especially when the Evo needs to get up to... what is it 21 psi?

No, again it's people doing clutch drops that kill the clutch. I have 20k, and 7 track events on mine and also 303whp and still going strong. My track buddy has 40k and about 12 track events and countless 1/4 mile passes on his stock clutch. Do a bunch of clutch dumps on any awd car and the clutch will die.

What does boost pressure have to do with turbo lag? Have you driven a 05 or 06 evo? The turbo lag is drastically reduced on the 05 over 03/04 and the 06 with Mivec even more so.

Last time I checked the clutch transfers power from the flywheel to the tranny.

What's funny is that they had a similar argument on the Sac/Reno section and most people liked the WRX... here, everyone says Evo. LOL
