I can believe you. That said check out the Modis overlay, the Tahoe Fire's a teenager compared to this thing, it's bigger than Mono Lake and Lake Tahoe. Seriously, look at the picture. Even the Berkeley Fire wasn't this huge.

Considering the fuel conditions and the fact that NIFC is at preparedness level 5 for the first time since 2008, I would not expect containment on any large wilderness fire for a while. These almost weekly storms introduce moisture that help for a couple days, but they are starting new fires that negate any gains on large fires.

All Hotshot crews are on a constant 14/2 rotation, almost nobody is leaving the region despite the severity of fires in other regions. The quantity of resources from the South, Midwest and East are impressive.

Buddy of ours is a photog for the Governors office and for OES... He was out at the fire the other day taking official photos for press releases, etc. The ones on the flickr are pretty standard, save for this one:

While i agree, thats not his gig. Basically he abuses his free nomex firesuit, radio, and OES badge go do whatever he wants.

also, isnt this whole thread about posting photos not taken from the road? post em up dumbass.
