Where to stay in Yosemite?

Been to damn near every part of the globe except my own backyard. Thinking about taking the wife this weekend but want a hotel right in the heart of the park, not on the outskirts or isolated from restaurants, the sites, etc. Where should I stay?

the Mountian Lodge would be your best bet, its nice overall, basic but clean and about $200 a night. If you have the cash Ahwahnee Hotel is the spot, very pricy and you have to wear a tie and jacket if you are going to eat in the restaurant. Other than that it's camping.

There are the cabins on the South side of the park, they have both enclosed wood cabins with heat or the tent cabins with no heat. You have to share bathrooms with everyone else, you meet some interesting people in there. Its cheap (tent cabins being the cheapest), and it has all the restaurants and shoppies there too, plus the little tram stops there and if you walk out on the lawn area at dusk there are some frickin' fantastic sunsets.

Stay in the tent village. It's pretty cool.

I've stayed in the "lodge at yosemite falls" and found the rooms to be pretty crappy. It was also quite hot and there's no AC. Very nice to be able to stay right next to the falls though.

So...

Depends on what you're looking for... It was pretty cheap for something right in the park. Get what you pay for though. =)

This is where me and my family stayed a few weeks ago. If you okay with not being in the middle of everything it,s nice.
