Car Info: missing my STI 2006
Nick, do NOT sell your car. How many times will we all have to talk sense into you? I said in the last thread when you got reffed that you needed to ditch the tint!! There is a reason I never run tinted windows on modified cars, have front plates on them, and haven't been pulled over. The more excuses you give them to pull you over without even having looked in your engine bay, under your car, the easier it is for them to stop you.
It is silly to sell a vehicle because you choose to modify it (illegally), and you get busted. I wouldn't stop driving Subarus, or modifying them, if I was reffed in my STi. I would figure out some "alternative" methods to continue enjoying my cars. I believe Spoolin415 knows first hand what the wrath of the CHP feels like, and he found a way to continue enjoying his STi in California. You just need to think outside the box. Get used to no window tint on a car that has modifications, and running a stock STi exhaust. After all, if I can make ~425whp with a stock STi exhaust, you could easily make whatever you're making with one...if you know what I mean.

Bottom line here, is that we all have to expect to pay the piper if we play this cat and mouse game with the state of California and it's money-earning wh... errr I mean CHP.

I'm bored of people complaining about ref tickets when they attract attention with tints and loud pipes.
The wing and tint are huge red flags. Ditch them.
But I understand your frustration with wanting to sell the car. Sucks always driving in fear of being pulled over for something so petty. If I get reffed again I would probably sell my car too... hopefully that won't happen (fingers crossed). I run a front plate, no tint, small wrx wing and no stickers or body modifications on my STi.

I've always preferred tint-free windows. It might just be because I'm not used to the tint, but I always find it harder to drive a car with tinted windows because I feel less aware of my surroundings. The benefits of having cool blacked-out windows don't nearly make up for the loss in drivability, let alone the potential police hassles. JMO
Also, I think tinting just the rears looks kinda of weird and unbalanced. It also makes cops more at ease being able to see you (even if it's just the rears), hopefully putting them in a mood to let you slide if you happen to get pulled over.
who was the officer that sited you? Was he a cop on a bike? If so.. that's probably the same douche that pulled me over. I forget his name, but if you mention it, it might ring a bell.
He pulled me over when i was at a Stop sign because of my exhaust, then he decided to be an *** and make me roll up my front windows to see if i had tint and he even made me take that off as well. Thanks to him, now everytime i roll my Window up and down after removing the tint, it makes a really loud squeeky noise when it rolls up because of the tint adhesive stuff that was on the window.
Apparently this same bike cop does this all day, all he does is just looks for cars that are modded or could be modded and pulls them over to inspect the vehicle and will usually ding them for something stupid just to justify why he pulled the car over in the first place. He pulled my cousin over in his stock crx 5 times already. Only mod done to it is lowering springs...
Cops around Petaluma are jerks. They have nothing better to do than just pull over everyone for any little thing.

Sorry to hear man.. Everyone at my work thought it was me this morning. What was the last name of the cop that stopped you might be our co-worker's brother.
I have the same exhaust and have not had a problem with it *knock on wood*... Also my Tomei header produces a different rumble with the APS exhaust than yours but maybe it's time for header?

That adhesive is a PAIN to remove, but I've had luck with a product called "Goof-Off". You might wan't to look in to it if the sound is still bothering you.
