honestly, travis was pushing a bit too hard on the tarmac sections, specifically if you want his U turn, he nearly comes to a complete stop. then, during the sweeping turns, he's wasting power/traction by drifting. Kenny Brack had very little smoke at all coming from the rear tires and when the camera audio allows, you can hear him modulate his throttle quite a bit.
Ford does not bring the small, sporty cars to the US because the overall demand is for the Taurus, Mustang and F150... i sincerely doubt we'll ever see a truly GOOD Ford sporty, small car on our shores.

You sound like the commentators. Wow look at how little smoke comes off bracks car. That's all they were talking about. That and the crash.
notice how on leading up to the U turns, pastrana is in the lead, and then by the time they're going thru the double apex turn, brack is ahead. thats the difference between grip and drift driving.
in all honesty, you can watch WRC with pretty much any tarmac event. drifting around the corner is not used often as its slower than gripping around a turn. yes, the drivers to often use the hand brake to spin the rear end around, but the front end line never really gets out of the ideal line for taking the turn quickly, whereas with typical drifting the front end is pretty away from the ideal line, so they over compensate with lots of power and tires slippage to hold the rear at that particular angle.

since he's the fastest driver around at the moment, so it would seem a good example.
the mention of the rear tire smoke is a remark of Bracks style of throttle control - all 4 tires are gripping as much as they can. its pretty obvious that Pastrana prefers to let 3 tires do the gripping while 1 is using its power to create tire smoke.
now, whether one is faster than the other... look at Formula 1. they do not drift and they're the fastest race cars on the planet. but, grip versus drift is just a matter of preference and how the vehicle is setup.
