X Games HOLY CRAP!
Did anyone see last night. It's only a matter of time before someone dies with all the crazy stuff going on right now.
Danny Way is the friggin man. Guy bails from 21 feet out on to metal coping and fights off the doctors to come back out. Then falls and smacks his head off the ground. Then comes back out again and sticks a huge trick.
THEN GETS ****ING ROBBBBBBED!!!!
I don't know what the hell those judges were thinking. Seriously. A pocked out back flip into a varial 540 19 feet out by a guy with busted up feet.
Then bob comes in and does a switch 180... really difficult with that much speed into a 360 landing switch. Also difficult.
But I don't think it was any more difficult that what way did and had less style.
Shoot if bob is such great friends with Danny he shouldn't of taken that last run. Sorry but if I was sitting on a silver metal and my homeboy just defied death and came back with a 94 point run I'd come up with some reason to not run my last run. Friggin drop the board down the drop in and walk away. Much more class. Much better ending to the situation. True respect.
Instead he steals the gold metal. WTF.
Highway robbery if you ask me.

Last night was insane for what people were doing. I was watching the dirt bike jumps (not sure what the name of the event was) and HOLY CRAP those guys are INSANE! The trick that one it where the guy launches and does this freaking like barrel roll twist over the bike, while still holding onto the left side of the bike and lands it, then runs off into the barriers. That was NUTS!!!

And yes Danny is the man. Next to Hawk and Cab he's hands down my favorite. I mean the dude broke his neck and they didn't think he'd skate again. Not only did he walk and skate again but he decided to start building the biggest things ever known to sports of any kind. Jumping out of helicopters into giant ramps. Jumping the great wall of china when people have died doing it on MOTORCYCLES and BICYCLES. Then building these huge super ramps in his back yard. To me its equivalent to Jeff Clark surfing Mavericks alone for 15 years.
The guy is a legend.
I will say that body varial think in best trick motox was pretty sick too. But I'm more impressed with the 360's with tricks.
Too bad Travis isn't doing it much anymore cause I still think when healthy he's the best there's ever been. You see that new poster of his doing the back flip over block. SICK.
^^^^Yeah - I think Bobs switch backside varial sealed the win, plus the last 360 indy to fakie
was amazing, the way his knees compressed on the way down was insane.
But I agree, Way is a legend and I was hoping he'd win.
Ever check out Danny Ways DC footage on the mega ramp, with the rainbow rail? Totally sick, anyone that hasnt seen it should youtube it.

The tech that guys are using now is at a higher level and just the fact that they're doing it at a much much bigger scale is progression. Yeah it hasn't progressed as quickly but you need to realize that its a much older sport and did a great deal of progressing through the late 80's and 90's. Think of it like the bicycle stuff. Slower rate of progression. Older sport.
Not to mention they're the only sports that the equipment has progressed a HUGE amount in the last 10 years. Especially with skating. You could take a 15 year old skate board and put it next to a brand new one and not know they weren't both current boards.
Sounds to me like you don't participate in many "xtreme" sports.

I still think he shouldn't even have taken the run. He already had a metal. Just seems like the classy thing to do for someone that's your friend.
Of course knowing Way he probably would have been pissed if Bob did that. haaa.
Traxamillion probably only watches contests, any skateboarder would know that skating has progressed exponentially. Hell, watch a skate video from 99/2000 compared to the new videos in 07/08...HUGE progression! - but if you only watch contests a few times a year, then yeah, I can see how the shock value of Vert and Mega Ramp wears off and it can look the same.

Danny Way is still skating?? That's awesome I remember him from his H-Street days in fact I think I have a VHS tape of their team from the late 90's.
Street skating was always my thing, I have great memories even of some of my major slams like breaking both my wrists on a shoot for RAD magazine in the UK..

yeah he was suppose to stop I think in 95' when he broke his neck. Laid low for a few years then came back in full effect like 8 years ago with these super ramps and heli drops and stuff. Crazy thing is that I think he's only 34? Dude went pro when he was like 15.
Mike... you should print out some photos and put em' up in the shop.
