WTT: Need M+S tires for the weekend 1/29 - 1/31
Initial Review, 20,479 Miles on Tires

Been on this tire for a little over 2 years now and just now needing a replacement. I've used these on track, out to my folks on gravel, and around town and it's been wonderful. Best tires for the money. And I know they aren't made for it, but I've driven through all kinds of snow on the few days a year we get it and they didn't do bad at all. (we actually got a couple feet in West TN this year) But yes, I'll definitely be buying these again. Tire Rack made it a breeze to get them last time and I'll be continuing that as well!
I know people who drove through a blizzard for hours on RA-1s... I think these would do just fine in the snow. But Chain Control *might* check them for M+S, but then again, they usually don't even think twice on letting the subys by.

Hands down the BEST TIRE FOR THE BUCK! For $90 per tire the performance is unparalleled! This is my 4th set of BFG Sports. The sidewall has truly been perfected. Even on a 50 series tire the steering response is amazing. No squish involved in sharp turns or long highspeed turns. The grip this tire provides with a 340 tread wear rating is unmatched in it's class. The breaking point is super predictable, and when loss of traction does occur the transition is flawless. The tire really grabs in straight ahead acceleration as well. Overall, traction is comparable to a much more expensive tire. I am still floored by the price vs. performance. (I'm not sure the 340 is accurate, with hard driving I went through these in 1 year.) When you subtract adverse weather, 9 months of hard driving will finish them off. For wet weather and snow, I drive reserved 95% of the time, and my vehicle is all wheel drive, so the ratings are based on these factors. However, to further my wet weather review, the tire does perform very well in the rain. Mild hydroplaning occurs ONLY in standing water, similar to every other tire in this condition. Again, you'd have to spend $150-175 per tire to match up all the high marks and rounded characteristics you get with this tire. (and I have spent that for tires!)
Initial Review, 19,000 Miles on Tires

This ia a follow up to a previous review. I now have 19,000 miles on these tires and the backs need to be replaced, but the fronts still have many miles to go. Still wouldnt drive these on the track, but I have dedicated track tires now. But for everyday driving, I have to say the tread wear is impressive at any price and I am going to buy a new pair for the rear which should last until the fronts wear out. I have driven these through an Oklahoma winter, and while not winter tires, they were passable considering they are summer tires not intended for snow and freezing weather.

These tires came with the car when i bought it. i was amazed on how well these tires handled. i do a lot of drag racing with my trans am and all i have to say is "wow". they grip perfectly on dry roads. on wet roads, they seem to break for a sec then catch , but then again my car has over 450 horsepower haha. being a mechanic i've switched a ton of tires and i give this one an A++. cornering wise it has overexceeded my exceptations both on dry and wet roads, i've actually drivin my car with these tires on them in 3 inches of snow and they never broke loose provided one doesn't punch the throttle. i've never lost control with these tires and strongly recommand these tires to any performance enthusiast looking for a good gripy tire. the only warning i would have to give is that being the soft tires that they are, they dont hold up well to burnouts haha as i have learned the hard way. if one plans on drag racing like i do these tires are perfect for it, but dont burnout on them it's just not needed and it wears them down faster obviously.over all i give them a 9/10.
So, while they aren't made for it, looks like they might work. But I'd probably look else where Dan, no reason to have to put with a chance they don't work out. I think they will clear snow fine, I think the compound just isn't up to the task.

Dan, I've got 235/40/18 Falken 912's on 18x8's sitting in the garage. Army green. If you want to roll on them and can fit them, all you have to do is swing by my place in Sac on the way up, we can swap, and then you can be on your way, and we'll swap on the way back down the hill.
Other option is some 235/40/17's on 178's with nexen M+S's - they're on the wagon, but I can pull those if you can't clear the 18's.
All of 'em clear my stoptechs, so they'll clear your 4pots.

I think this is not M+S because it it doesn't have sipes. Dan, you could always get the tread siped.
