As ussual we'll have the same crew over here at the house to have of "theme" dinner party to watch the WRC of Italia (Italy). And just like all the events before this one we will be having wonderful food and LOTS of wine. We are trying however to keep the muenu as close as we can to reflect the kinds of dishes they would serve in Sardegna (Sardinia). Many of the side dishes have not been chosing yet, but we do know what's for the main course. Gnocchiallo Zafferano (gnocchi with saffron)

This years Italian rally is being run is Sardinia. A place "very" close to my heart. When i first met my wife thirteen years ago her mother lived there with her then husband. I spent two summers there in the Costa Smeralda (the emerald coast) area very early on. Italy is one of my main influences as the driver i am today. We loved the area so much that it was our plan to move there because a house had already been there waiting for us to move in. And if we had just got up and moved we still be there today, but i couldn't do that. I had a few more years here in the states that i wanted to finish. I liked my friends etc...

Well we waited too long and now that bridge has been burned We would have lived on one of the roads that they most surely of used for this up and coming rally. Sure the dirt roads in that area are amazing. I've been on many of them. Either walking or driving. The road that the house was on that we would have lived in was near this corner where three dirt roads intersected. Each of good length and filled with fast sweeping corners. Just up the road was another dirt road that was very rocky and technical. Perfect for the WRC.

We also spent alot of time in the city of Olbia. That is where the crews will be having there work areas etc.... It is also the only city on the part of the island that has an airport. Just a 40 minute flight from Roma (rome).


Well enough of my ranting. Wingless i hope you have fun watching the rally. One of these times you should come to one of our parties.

Hey Rich, can you tape this rally so we can watch it? Not having speed channel up here sucks!

 

Every time Greg. I tell ya. Maybe you just don't listen. "I RECORD EVERY RALLY OF THE WRC. I HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR THE PAST 4-5 YEARS. I STILL HAVE EVERY ONE OF THEM IN MY MASSIVE COLLECTION OF RACING VIDEOS. ONE TAPE PER EVENT." May this be the final time i need to say this.
