X prize winnar..

scaled composite made their first x-prize flight on the 29th of sept...

and made their final and required flight this morning to become the winner of the x-prize ($10mil!!!)

"The ANSARI X PRIZE is a $10,000,000 prize to jumpstart the space tourism industry through competition among the most talented entrepreneurs and rocket experts in the world.

The $10 Million cash prize will be awarded to the first team that:

Privately finances, builds & launches a spaceship, able to carry three people to 100 kilometers (62.5 miles)
Returns safely to Earth
Repeats the launch with the same ship within 2 weeks

The ANSARI X PRIZE competition follows in the footsteps of more than 100 aviation incentive prizes offered between 1905 and 1935 which created today's multibillion dollar air transport industry."

I've been folowing it very closely...

it was emotional watching them make it to 360,000 this morning. I watched the whole thing on their live webfeed. Amazing stuff.

one day if the funds allow, I would absolutely LOVE to go into space even if for 5 minutes... Space is one of those places i've always dreamt of.... but not anymore!

yup.. congrats to them...

but the problem is that the $10 mil is just a small portion of what they spent...

good luck to their future projects where i hope they can make money from rich tourists... lol.....

I don't think the co-founder of microsoft (invested 20 million into SpaceShipOne), did it for the money, LOL
