It looks like it is mostly the new motor cars like the 2012 Imprezas and the BRZs. Some other cars are included but don't appear to be as frequent. You should have received a letter in the mail if you were a part of this.
When they did my wifes wagon, guy flashed it, and then gave me the car to go home. They did not drive it around after it was done. (Watched him do it)

Procede we do drive the vehicles, we are actually required to drive the vehicles. After reflashing the vehicle (no parts will be changed) we take it on the 2 mile test drive. I can tell you right now that we are told to give it quite a bit of gas simply because after the reflash the car must relearn how to idle properly and shift properly. We have to let the car idle with loads off for a few mins, and loads on for a few mins, then drive it, that way it ensures that the car will be running perfectly fine when it gets back to the customer. Most people skip the idle step and just drive it, it's hit or miss like that and we have had comebacks complaining about idle problems after, so when they do comeback we just drive it more until it goes back to normal. /rant

The problem is with a downpipe on the stock tune the car will run funny and a dangerously lean. This will provoke them to pop the hood.

To be honest if you have mods, we could care less at our dealer, all we write on our work order is that you have mods. If you get me as your tech, I don't write anything and I know some people don't bother writing it, but for those who follow the rules more closely, they write it down. Honestly I don't think it does anything anyways, doesn't void your warranty or anything. Yes we just reflash, drive, send it to wash, done.

It won't change the fact that you need the DMV slip from the dealership saying this work was completed.
We just did the reflash on my wifes 2012 Impreza wagon and they had to give me an official Cal DMV slip with all the info filled out from the dealership. I have to provide it with the registration/smog if the DMV ever asks for it.
