Why you don't go to Jiffy Lube

i have heard of people doing that just to get a new motor. a friend of a friend went to pennzoil to have his oil done, and he turned the corner unscrewed the oil plug, and drove around for a little bit and fried the motor. he got a new motor put into his 95 civic because of it.
well.. so the story was..

and I suppose it comes with a free wick for the wax that they're putting in the engine??
or is it a buffing cloth that they include with the "Supreme Oil Change"?
I trust 7 people in the world to change the oil on my car...and I'm one of them.
Adam, Noah, and Kevin @ LIC
Steve & Don @ Suby Specialties (Monrovia, CA)
Silke and myself.
I wouldn't trust Pennzoil to be able to properly protect the vehicles I drive against engine wear. I have the Blackstone Lab oil analysis to prove how Mobil 1 protects, but I'm sure a Pennzoil place doesn't use Mobil 1.

I think they put a wax stick line on the plugs, kinda like Maker's Mark haha, to tell if it's been turned.

Oil changes on Subarus are so friggin' easy, even "I" do it by myself and normally I don't do crap for my car, and pay or ask other people to do it for me or help me do things. :P
That's what really sucks with places like Jiffy Lube. Most of us here know what to look out for, do it ourselves, or bring it to reputable shops, but there's a huge population who have no clue and will pretty much believe what those places say and never check b/c they don't know where or what to check.

i posted this on another board:
i really feel there's more truth to this. that news station can easily just show you the times when no work was done. 5 out of 9 seems way to often. speaking of which, i have friends that worked at jiffy lube. every car that comes in is logged in their database, and everything is recorded from what service was done, what was added, and who worked on what. if something comes back, they can easily trace it to who's at fault.
