I had a friend go to the one in Danville with his Forester for an oil change, they left the drain plug out, and he fried his engine. Luckily they replaced it for him (the engine).

for a real scare, google search "jiffy lube horror stories". That will give you hours of entertaining reading. One story I remember reading, a mercedes went in for an oil change, but the jackbutt employee drained the differential fluid, then massivly overfilled the engine!!!1! Needless to say the mercedes was done for. There are countless more....haha, I think there is a JiffyLubeSucks.com :rotfl:

what gets me is that 5 out of 9 jiffy lube's were ripping people off, that isn't just 1 or 2 rogue stores...that's a majority.

I took my car to Freddie once and wired it with cameras. I asked Gino to detail my car and he said he would for $1,000. So I gave him $. Then, when I watched the video, he never did it. The camera cought him making out with a midget on the back seat... What a scammer....

A district manager lying that he's not the district manager?

That's pretty damn shady.

I don't think they are really trying to scam you...or maybe they are? I could see this happening on stuff if the tech was just really lazy and didn't want to do it. I don't think the people that work there for X dollars an hour are part of a big corporate scam to take your money. I think it's more of a "I'm not going to do that work, because they'll never know and it's a total pain.

It's all about the quality of your employees. Everywhere that is a normal "don't care about my car I'll take it to the cheapest place" business is going to be pretty bad.

I got an oil change done for an old girlfriend at a Wal-Mart and they caused $1500 in damage to the car. The tech was in such a hurry to finish quickly that they forgot to put down the hood brace when he was closing the hood. It was still up and when he pulled on the hood to close it he bent the hood on the side. Then he tried to take out the dent by pushing on it really hard and he put a bend in the fender. They parked the car out back and told me it was ready to pick up. I didn't notice it until I stopped to get dinner and when I went back they tried to deny it all. It took a bunch of phone calls and arguing with the manager before they agreed to pay for it. I almost had to threaten standing in front of the work bays with a sign pointing to the car showing that they screwed up.

If you have to get your oil change by someone, get it done by PENNZOIL 10 MINUTE OIL CHANGE, they are Diamond Certified (shamless plug)
