I've heard Wheel Techniques recommended a few times on BAIC. If you've actually been there, what was your experirence? Positive? Negative? How was the work? Was it finished when promised?

i've been there but i haven't gotten work there done personally. I have a friend who had his rim fixed there from being bent and he told me that they lag alot. The rims aren't return when promised and on top of that i think his rim got bent again after a while.

i've been there to get one of my SSR Comps fixed because of shipping damage. i went there because Luke from tirerack recommened them and said they're probably the best out there. so they basically repainted the whole wheel and fixed the rashes for $180. not cheap, but it came out pretty good, except the color was slightly off only under the sun and no one else but myself can tell. i would recommend them to others especially if ur getting an expensive wheel fixed. just be prepared to spend some money.

yeah... i got a bad feeling when I dropped my rims off. i know, i know, shoulda asked first. So many people had posted about them though. 1 guy was complaining his wheels had been there 3 months. Another guy was complaining that it had beed 2 months.
The two brothers (John and Jeff) seem like real scheisters. They both kept saying, some times simultaneously "Oh you're wheels are gonna look awesome". They just kept repeating that. Knowing there was no other place that does the work they do I just decided to do it. That they had me pay a 60% down payment bothered me. But I was so much in the mood not to care.
These are for some TE37s which in my size are running about $500 a piece now. Any wheels I'd get are going to be in that range. So I figured, $1000 to repair three rims and paint four rims, if they do a good job, will be worth it.
I'd love to hear some first hand positive experiences...
BTW - I settled on a dark gunmetal/charcoal with a polished lip. So my TE37s will look like LE37Ts but with darker spokes.

I brought one stock rim with a pretty bad dent in it to them, I know I could have probably waited around and bought a used one for the $75 I wound up spending, but it does look really good and was done when he said it would be, -then again that was about a month after I dropped it off- but I did tell them I wasn't in a hurry.

So far it sounds over all like the quality is pretty top notch... customer service is hit or miss... being up here in SF he's got me by the *****.

I took them 4 nasty looking '84 Supra alloys that I got at a wrecking yard. I had them blast the wheels and then polish the lips in hopes of getting sort-of a cheapie 'panasport' look. This was in '99 and I don't remember but I think it was around $80/wheel. They didn't look perfect, but they still look nice today. I have only gone over them once with some Mother's polish. I have also had a rim repaired there - a Firebird 17x9 that had a crack. They fixed it flawlessly for $75.
Here's a pic of one of the Supra rims:

Well, I guess I can't complain. my friend just his 240 in the shop for 7 months getting a turbo put on. it was done right, very right, the first time. But yeah, it took 7 months. If this takes 2 months but the wheel look schwingy when all is said and done, I guess I'll deal.

On a side note... anyone had any experiences with Wheel America in Union City? Supposedly, fill, touch up paint and clearcoat for about $100 per rim and a 1-2 day turnaround.

......Wheel Techniques.....I would never take anything to those guys. I went there , called first got the price i was expecting...Showed up there and it was like a bomb dropped. The price skyrocketed and so did the turn-around time. It was a simple job gone wrong with those guys. They also talk s hit about their customers after they leave, but hey what shop does'nt, I was just expecting them to do it around people they know not a new customer like me for instance. thumbs down.

I had my Volks taken there and had the lips re-polished. They got stained at the dealership...so they sent them there to get fixed. They did a real good job. I also had some parts powder coated from them a few years back when I hooked up a 67 VW bug. Again, they did a great job.

I've had great experience with Wheel Techniques, back when they were in Campbell.
I had some bent BMW alloys, not just curbed/bent lips, but the entire "drum" of the wheel was bent on the "center", and no other wheel shops wanted to touch them.
I think I paid like $150, but the wheels came back perfect, and in only 7 days time.
