My experience with Wheel Techniques in Santa Clara
My experience with Wheel Techniques in Santa Clara
This is a repost for you I-CLUB members thinkning about getting your wheels painted, repaired, redone, and/or straightened.
I used them and here's the results -
---------------
I ran over a step or level change in the toll plaza on the Dumbarton Bridge back in Feb 05' - My WORK wheel was damaged and didn't want to cough up $550 for a new one and have 1 great cherry rim (that would take 2 months to get here) and 3 average looking ones. So Here's what my rim looked like when I damaged it -

INSIDE of the RIM

I also had a few scratches on the other rim(s) and here they are:

Here's what the rims looked like in the OG silver -

So I decided to go with the GOLD color and have them repair the bent rim and re-do all the lips and re-surface my foggy caps -
Here's how they turned out:

Overall, I think they did a GREAT JOB - The inner HUBS were so polished it looked close to chrome and so shiny - No runs or bleeds or drips in the paint and my new caps were shiny and not foggy again. The whole process took 3 days and Paul let me come anytime during the day to watch the process. They didn't mask the hub or outer rim to paint them like mpst shops would. Paul had the entire rim taken apart and each piece was done individually. All this (repair the bent rim, re-do all the road rash lips, repolish the hubs, and refine the plastic caps for $350 - NOT BAD IN MY OPINION -
Hope this helps anyone asking about Wheel Techniques - Hearing it from a member or fellow street car enthusiast....and not some random ghost trying to plug them for $$$ LOL
I wanted to go to a place closer to home (UNION CITY) like wheels america but they wont repair bent rims and most paint shops cost an arm and leg for ok jobs that'll take 2-3 weeks....
Paul Durden is the owner and is awesome - the address is:

Paul orignally quoted me $500 for all four(4) and I asked him for a player price and that I would send more customers my way if he did a good job - in a minute, he lowered the price to $350..... I was wondering how thet would turn out and when I got them,.... I was real happy -
He even let me come by and watch the process....nice company and great staff - Paul is real nice and honest....
Hope this helps ...

Damn....they look real good.
Got four crappy (condition of the rim0 Rota SubZeros damaged by brake dust and previous owner curbing them....
Might have to see about making a trip, or giving a call to see how much resurfacing the edges and painting would run.
Thanks for putting out the word. Shops down here wanted $350 PER WHEEL.....WTF? (Monterey, CA btw)
Just realized Santa Clara is pretty damn close....Thanks again!!!!

not bad! you coulda paid the full price to get a brandnew wheel, but instead paid less and got a much better look.
thanks guys!
And stay away from WHeels America in UC or is it Wheels USA - dunno - went there first cause its' 2 blocks from my parent's casa in UC and they looked at my rim and said they don't repair **** like this - only curbings...we'll do the lips for $100 each - I asked about repainting it, and they said NOPE don't do that either....
even though their signs and billboard say wheel/rim repairs done right.
OK?

yeah, i remember you posting the review + pics on Honda-Tech a while back. They did a good job, but the lip could have been polished a little more.....maybe it's the lighting though. btw, did they re-clear the lips too??
ditto on that ^^^ i stopped by Wheels America waaaaay back in the day when my friend curbed one the JDM 16" Sterns 3pc wheels on my old Integra. it wasn't that bad, and WA said they could repair it, but their shop is really ghetto, so I didn't feel comfortable leaving my wheel in their hands. I ended up sending it out to Mag Masters in Santa Ana. They did a GREAT job.
