This is more of a potential nightmare. Try finding a legit shop that will sell you a used motor with compression/leakdown info.

This is my opinion and it's worth what you paid for it, but I would not buy that and expect to simply install and use it.

I spoke with the dude a couple weeks ago. He wanted 3500 for the longblock without much info about it... I'm sure there is more damage than what is visible

There you go. I don't know much about that particular shop, but everything I have heard has been good.

Offered him 5k for the car, no response lol

I don't see anyone paying the kind of money he's asking for those parts. He'll come down to earth in a couple months of sitting on it.

Not worth $8500... barely worth $6000.

I wouldn't touch that thing with a 10 foot poll without starting it. This dude is a complete moron if he's "scared" to start it. Sorry but that's stupid. He took the risk when he bought the damned thing. Now find out if it works or you're just being shady.

Totally. Seems like $5k is moderately generous with the amount of hassle you would need to be involved in combined with the amount of risk you are taking.

No doubt. It seems like he basically thought he could pick up this wreck and offset the risk to everyone else. Doesn't work that way unless you find someone with a lot of cash and not much sense (I used to be that guy, less cash now).

3500 Tranny and brakes
1000 Engine
500 Seats
500 miscellaneous crap

It all basically rests on the tranny being in good shape. Atleast that was my estimation of it all.

They just aren't worth gold anymore.

Here is what I see when I see them.

$4000 trans and brakes... whole driveling.
$1000 complete interior.

Under 60k with leakdown $3000
Under 100k with leakdown $2000
No leakdown $500-750

Trunk tail light etc. $700.

People trying to get $8-10k on these are on crack unless its low mileage and cones with a leaksown.

Busted timing belt. Id offer the dude $750 intercooler down.
