WRX Approaching 55k miles. MAINTENANCE ISSUES?
Hi all, I purchased a used 03 wagon with 45k miles on it in July 04, I wanted to know if there are any common maintenance issues i.e.(timing belt, someone told me) that are going to need attention within the near future of the car as it nears 55k miles or so. Any help is greatly appreciated as I'd like to address and deal with any possible problems without being suprised with them in the future. Thank you.
PS- The car is currently bone stock

Well, you'll need to do the 45k service (same as 15k) which is pretty minor. the timing belt isn;t an issue until 100,000 miles. Factory replacement interval is 105,000 miles.
Err, wait- is it 45k or 55k? The title says one thing and your post says another. Either way, you still have some powertrain warranty left, so I'd go over the car with a fine tooth comb just to see if there's anything worth fixing before it expires.

Ok thanks, yea some kid had mentioned to me about timing belts on wrx's going out around 50k miles or something. I figured to just put up a post here for more help and thats what I got. Thanks again.
Title/Post mileage confusion- sorry about that, the car was purchased pre owned in july with 45k on it. And in the coming months it will be nearing 55k miles. Just wanted to let viewers know how long I've had it.

Okay, sounds good. Start thinking about the 60k service. Use whatever motor oil you like to use, and I'd really recommend putting Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the transmission. Improves shifts dramatically. Use any standard 75w90 for the rear diff, dino or synth, whatever you prefer.

I have an 03 WRX sedan w/49 K miles and there have been no powertrain/engine issues. Mine had recalls on a cruise control cable clip problem and loose seat rail bolts, but don't know if those were issued for the wagon as well. Check your maintenance schedule that came with the car's manual and make sure everything has been keep to to spec. in additon to the oil and oil fiter changes. I know of nothing that needs to be done more often than is specified in the scheduled maintenance.
